Many years ago in the faraway land of Boryslav (in the Lvivska Oblast), there was a very sweet and kind princess named Olena. She liked to grow cucumbers in her garden. She liked to eat cucumbers. She liked to draw pictures of cucumbers. She liked to say "cucumbers." And she liked to read books about cucumbers.
Life should have been perfect for Lena the Princess, right? But no, she was very sad. She was sad and lonely and wanted to meet the prince of her dreams. Of course, she hoped it would be a prince who loved cucumbers too. But I guess that wasn't the most important thing.
One day when she was eating some cucumber sandwiches, a handsome man named Ihor approached on a white horse. Ihor had long, blond hair. Lena the Princess looked at him and thought, "That guy is duzhe, duzhe sexy!" He was one very hot kovbasa! o__O Anyway, Ihor got off his horse and said, "Sweet Princess, I have been watching you from a distance. You have such beautiful eyelashes. And you wear a very interesting scarf. And I must say that you grow some of the most delicious cucumbers in Boryslav..."
Lena interrupted Ihor and said, "Wait a minute! So you are the one who has been stealing my cucumbers???" But you know, Lena decided it was okay for Ihor to steal her cucumbers because he was hot and his horse was pretty cool.
Ihor took out a diamond ring from his pocket and said, "Dearest Lena, will you be my Cucumber Queen forever?" Lena thought about it for a moment. First, she was surprised that Ihor knew her name because she had never introduced herself. Also, she thought it was kind of weird that he asked her to marry him because at this point she had only known him for about 17 seconds. But she decided marrying him would be the best idea ever. Plus she would probably be able to borrow his horse sometime.
So Ihor said, "If you marry me, you will be the best Cucumber Queen ever! And you will dress like a cucumber! And you can sleep late during the afternoons. It will be the best!!!" So Princess Lena said, "Really? You would do that for me?"
"Yes, dearest Cucumber! For you, I probably would do such things!"
Lena said, "Wow. Nobody has ever done such amazing things for me...I love you." And so Lena approached Ihor, closed her eyes, and when she kissed him he turned into a frog.
